What's a closing date?

It's when you became (or will become) legal owners of your property.

Where do I find our closing date?

You can find the closing date in several places:

  • Closing disclosure: document provided by your mortgage lender

  • Settlement statement: also known as HUD-1 statement, provided by the title company or escrow agent

  • Title insurance policy: provided by your Title insurer and noted as effective date

  • Mortgage documents: mortgage or deed of trust documents

If you haven't yet closed on your purchase, you can find your expected closing date on your Purchase & Sale Agreement.

Why does it matter?

We ask co-owners to enter the same closing date:

  1. For security

  2. Because it's necessary for your Co-ownership Agreement

If you're the first co-owner to sign, you enter the closing date.

It's important that all co-owners enter the same closing date.

If you are invited to join the group and enter a closing date that's different from the date entered by the first co-owner, you won't be able to sign up.
